Live to Frozen mouse Success!
Recently I have been looking for ways to switch over my ball python food source. I live about 45 minutes from home so I wanted to try to switch over to frozen mice to cut down on long trips. I found a post on the internet with a couple tips and I finally found one that worked for me. First I got the frozen mouse and put it into a zip lock bag and submerged it under hot water for a couple hours for it to get thawed out. Then I got some paper napkins and laid the mouse out on it. I took a hair dryer and went over the mouse until it got fairly warm as a live mouse would be. Then I took a pair of tongs and moved the mouse around a little and bam she ate it right up like a live mouse.

Incredible!!! I have a corn snake and have fed it live mice ever since I got it about 8 years ago. We only have one place left in town anymore that sells live mice as food and it’s really difficult to get there to get the mouse every week. I’ve thought about trying frozen mice but really didn’t know how to do it since the snake has never had a frozen mouse before. Reading your blog gave me the idea to try it. I guess the worst that could happen would be that he would refuse it. I’ll be going to Petsmart in the next few days so I’ll pick up one or so and try it out.
Thanks for the information!
